Marble
Marble floors are one of our specialties; beautiful, elegant, and intricate, marble is a common stone used in any part of a home. Although people have the false belief that a stone requires low maintenance and is virtually impenetrable, this is not true for most stones. On the contrary, there are thousands of different varieties of marble, some which are considered soft. With this being said, marble can be easily scratched, etched, or stained if not properly cared and sealed. Although most problems can be restored, better to be safe than sorry!
Granite
Granite is the choice of stone installed into kitchens. The reason? It is very durable. Granite is a very dense material made up of quartz and other minerals. It takes a lot of effort to actually damage this stone which means it takes even more effort to repair it. One of the only substances stronger than granite is diamonds, and that is exactly what we use to repair it if there is an imperfection with the surface. You may safely use most household cleaning chemicals to clean it, but it is still recommended that you should have it professionally sealed every few years.
Travertine
Travertine is a very interesting stone. A few facts about this material is that the reason is has holes is because it is mined from the bottom of dried lakes. I am sure we have all been to a lake and seen air bubbles rise to the surface of the water, the truth of the fact is, those bubbles are not coming from the fish breathing, they are coming from the planet breathing! As the planet breathes out, the bubbles that come from the bottom of the lakes is what causes the sand to have holes! Over time when the lake dries out and goes through a process called cementation, it becomes an appealing material to install into your showers or other locations.
